7H Creating Accessible Public Right-of-Way

Full Title: Creating Accessible Public Right-of-Way – From Assessment to Construction Best Practices

Are you struggling to determine how best to evaluate, prioritize and implement a public right-of-way transition plan? While public agencies find collecting data arduous, prioritizing the information and integrating it into infrastructure maintenance, alteration and capital improvement programs has been a challenge for many. Come and be part of our discussion on how to create a cohesive approach that fits your agency. With a past ADA Transition Plan sited as a best practice, and a new updated approach at hand, our panel will review what the Texas Department of Transportation has successfully learned over time from assessment to design and construction. This session will review: a) varied assessment options, the importance of prioritization strategies, how to manage large data sets; b) smart approaches for integration into design and construction; and c) how local and state agencies can best coordinate. Significant time for audience question and answer will be available.
