3F Accessible Exterior Routes and Surfaces
Property lines and right -of-way lines are generally only visible on site plans or design documents. In the real world, mobility between the public way and private sites should be seamless. Accessible exterior routes and surfaces on the private and public sides of a property or right-of-way line (ROW) have distinct definitions, differences and features. This unique session focuses on the details of exterior routes and surfaces located on the privately owned side of a right-of-way/ property line. This course will briefly review public ROW sidewalks to differentiate the requirements from an accessible route, shared use path, and or a trail. However, public ROW is being offered in a separate program. By participating in this program and the ROW session, attendees will have a clear understanding of the important differences, overlapping provisions and vocabulary of one of the most important fundamentals of accessible design.
